JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, November 4, 2026 – Global financial technology company Paymentology has partnered with South African technology firm Byte Orbit to launch Paystashio, a digital spend management platform designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) manage corporate expenditure, improve financial oversight and reduce administrative costs.

The partnership combines Paymentology’s real-time payment processing technology with Byte Orbit’s financial technology expertise to provide businesses with a centralised system for managing employee spending.

Through the platform, companies can issue physical and virtual corporate cards, allocate individual spending limits, monitor transactions as they happen and automate expense reconciliation.

The launch comes as South African businesses increasingly adopt digital solutions to improve financial management and streamline daily operations. According to Xero’s State of South African Small Business 2025 report, 40% of small businesses using cloud technology said it helped reduce administrative work or automate tasks.

Paystashio was developed in response to challenges that Byte Orbit encountered in managing its own corporate expenses, including the use of shared company cards, misplaced receipts, employee reimbursements and lengthy manual reconciliation processes.

With nearly two decades of experience developing enterprise banking and financial technology solutions, Byte Orbit has designed the platform to give employees greater spending flexibility while allowing finance departments to maintain oversight of company expenditure.

The system allows businesses to establish configurable spending limits, capture receipts digitally and integrate financial information with accounting software. Its current integrations include Xero and Sage, while QuickBooks integration is planned for a later stage.

Artificial intelligence is also incorporated into the platform to categorise transactions, match receipts and supporting documentation, and simplify the reconciliation process.

Herman van Zyl, Commercial Manager at Byte Orbit, said the platform was developed after the company experienced difficulties managing its own business expenses.

“Paystashio was born out of challenges we experienced ourselves, from chasing receipts to spending hours reconciling company expenses. We knew there had to be a better way. With Paymentology, we’re bringing payments, spending controls and financial data together in one platform, giving employees greater freedom while helping SMEs spend less time on administration and more time growing their businesses,” van Zyl said.

Paymentology provides the underlying issuer processing technology that enables Paystashio to authorise transactions in real time and apply spending restrictions at the point of purchase.

This allows businesses to monitor expenditure as transactions occur rather than relying entirely on retrospective reporting, giving finance teams greater visibility over company funds.

Kesheni Moodley, Regional Director for Africa at Paymentology, said the collaboration was intended to address the financial management challenges facing smaller businesses in South Africa.

“South African SMEs play a vital role in the economy, yet everyday financial administration can take valuable time away from running and growing a business. Byte Orbit is addressing this challenge with an intelligent, locally developed solution. By providing the processing technology behind Paystashio, we’re helping bring smarter business payments to market, giving SMEs greater control, flexibility and room to grow,” Moodley said.

The initial rollout will focus on South African SMEs, with Byte Orbit planning to develop Paystashio into a broader business payments ecosystem.
