JOHANNESBURG, South Africa: South African saxophonist and composer Linda Sikhakhane is set to take his latest music to audiences in South Africa and the United States with the LINDA Album Tour, supporting his fifth studio album, LINDA.
The tour will open at Untitled Basement in Johannesburg on 1 October, before moving to Youngblood Gallery in Cape Town on 3 October and The Chairman in Durban on 4 October.
Sikhakhane will then take the tour to the United States, with performances scheduled in Boston, Philadelphia and New York between 27 and 31 October.
The US leg will include a performance at City Winery in Boston, Ars Nova in Philadelphia, and shows at One Flight Up and The Django in New York.
Produced by acclaimed South African jazz musician Nduduzo Makhathini, LINDA explores questions of purpose, belonging, love, lineage and spirituality.
The album takes its title from Sikhakhane’s name and its meaning of “patience”. The concept behind the project centres on giving life and creative work the time needed to develop naturally.
The album brings together contributions from Omagugu, Zuluboy, Phila Dlozi, Ovuyonke and Thabo Sikhakhane, alongside members of Sikhakhane’s core band.
Musically, LINDA draws from South African jazz while incorporating elements of hip hop, Mzansi neo soul and amapiano. The project also explores Sikhakhane’s connection to heritage, spirituality and personal identity.
Speaking about the album and the decision to take it on tour across two continents, Sikhakhane said: “LINDA began with a question to self: what is my purpose in this lifetime? This music carries my name, and with it the meaning of patience – a reminder to trust the path and allow everything to come together in its own time. Taking this album from South Africa to the United States is a continuation of that conversation.”
Sikhakhane was born and raised in Umlazi, KwaZulu Natal, and developed his musical foundation at the Siyakhula Music Centre, where he began learning the saxophone.
He later studied jazz and popular music at the University of KwaZulu Natal, building a career that has seen him become part of South Africa’s contemporary jazz scene.
His previous project, iLadi, received further recognition after winning Best Jazz Album at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards.
The LINDA Album Tour will give audiences in South Africa an opportunity to experience the new material before Sikhakhane takes the project to American audiences later in October.
