Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) this weekend. The gathering, scheduled for August 24-25, 2024, is a key step leading up to the TICAD-9 Summit set for August 2025 in Yokohama.
Dr. Mudavadi was welcomed in Tokyo by Kenya’s Ambassador to Japan, Moi Lemoshira, and the Kenyan Embassy team. The Ministerial Meeting focuses on strengthening Japan-Africa ties, with discussions centered around Society, Peace and Stability, and Economy, all under the theme “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa.”
TICAD, an initiative by Japan, is designed to foster closer relations with African Union member states and aligns with the AU’s Agenda 2063 goals.
In addition to the main event, Dr. Mudavadi will hold high-level talks with senior Japanese officials and other stakeholders to push forward Kenya’s development agenda. He is also expected to meet with fellow African leaders to discuss both bilateral and continent-wide issues.
