The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has expressed concern over the proliferation of dangerous and unregulated bleaching creams in the market, likening it to a pandemic.

During a media workshop held in Port Harcourt, the agency’s Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, urged Nigerian women to be proud of their skin colour and warned against the health risks associated with long-term use of dangerous agents.

NAFDAC Deputy Director, Ebele Anto, called for media support to sensitise Nigerians to the idea that being dark-skinned is not wrong.

The event was attended by security agencies and stakeholders in the cosmetic industry.
