Mbabane – Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, Minister of Public Works and Transport, led a strategic tour of infrastructure projects in Hhohho and Lubombo regions on Friday. Members of the Ministry’s Portfolio Committee accompanied the Minister, demonstrating close cooperation between the executive and legislative branches in delivering public services.
The tour started with the assessment of the completed Masibekela Pier Bridge, a vital crossing for the Masibekela community. The project also includes plans for rehabilitation of access roads to nearby public facilities, which will form the second phase of development.
The team then visited the ongoing D78 Road improvement project, implemented by Afri Civils, which aims to link Siphocosini to Sigangeni. During the visit, the Minister unveiled Roots as the contractor responsible for completing the final six-kilometre stretch between New Hebron and Sigangeni. Once finished, the route between Siphocosini and Motjane will be upgraded to a fully paved standard.
Officials also reviewed progress on the Lugaganeni–Luve Road, which is scheduled to be upgraded to a paved standard within the current financial year.
The tour concluded with the introduction of Mgcabo Construction as the contractor for the next phase of the D12 Road, stretching from Maphungwane. Mgcabo Construction will upgrade nine kilometres leading to Tikhuba, providing improved access to Tikhuba High School, Tikhuba Clinic, and the surrounding Inkhundla.
