Pretoria – Nonhle “NN” Nkomonde, a Johannesburg-based lawyer accused of misappropriating funds from a deceased person’s bank account and purchasing eight properties with the money, has been removed from the roll of legal practitioners.

The Pretoria High Court issued the ruling on Tuesday, with Nkomonde absent from the proceedings. The Legal Practitioners Council (LPC) had approached the court after receiving 29 complaints against her. These complaints relate to alleged mismanagement of deceased estates and the unlawful sale of client properties.

The court ordered that Nkomonde is prohibited from handling or operating trust accounts under her company. She must also surrender her certificate of enrolment as a legal practitioner to the court registrar immediately.

Herman Higgs, Nkomonde’s lawyer, confirmed that she would comply with the court’s decision.
