Accra, Ghana – MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv, has refuted claims by Ghana’s Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation Minister Samuel Nartey George that it had agreed to lower its prices. The disagreement, which escalated on 5th September 2025, stems from concerns over the cost of DStv services in Ghana and the company’s refusal to reduce its rates despite earlier discussions.
According to MultiChoice, the company continues to engage with the Minister in a bid to find a solution but insists that no price reduction has been agreed upon. The company also stated its willingness to participate in a working committee, yet maintained that its pricing would not be altered without careful consideration of the service’s viability.
However, Minister George expressed frustration with the company’s stance, stating that if MultiChoice refused to engage in meaningful discussions, the government would proceed with a shutdown of DStv services as previously threatened. He reminded the company that no business is above the law and emphasized that Ghana was open to companies that respect local laws and institutions.
The Minister also made it clear that the National Communications Authority (NCA) would take action to enforce the regulations if the company continued to avoid discussions regarding a price reduction.
