Lusaka, Zambia — A delegation of eight officials from Eswatini has completed a benchmarking visit to Zambia as the country prepares to establish its own Centre for Disease Control (Eswatini CDC).
The team, supported by Africa CDC and PEPFAR CDC, visited the Zambia National Public Health Institute (NPHI) to learn how that country has structured its public health surveillance and emergency response systems. The visit marks the second phase of Eswatini’s journey toward setting up a fully operational national public health institute.
This is the second time Eswatini has sent a team for such training. The first delegation undertook a similar mission in Ethiopia at the end of May.
The group included five officers from the Ministry of Health — with members drawn from the Environmental Health Department, Epidemiology Unit, and national laboratories. The remaining three represented the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, and the Ministry of Public Service.
