UAE, Uruguay Build Ties in First Political Talks

Abu Dhabi, UAE – The United Arab Emirates and Uruguay recently held their first-ever political consultations, marking a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the two nations. The meeting, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi, aimed to explore avenues for collaboration across various sectors and address key regional and global issues.

Leading the discussions were Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Dr. Nicolás Albertoni, Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay. The delegations also included officials from both countries’ foreign affairs ministries, highlighting the importance both sides place on this newly established dialogue channel.

The discussions focused on fostering bilateral cooperation in various areas, including political, economic, and trade sectors. Both sides expressed particular interest in collaborating on sustainable development initiatives, particularly in the realm of renewable energy. This shared commitment reflects a growing international focus on transitioning towards clean energy sources and combating climate change.

Beyond bilateral cooperation, the UAE and Uruguay also exchanged views on current regional and global developments. This dialogue strengthens mutual understanding and allows both countries to contribute to addressing regional and global challenges through collaboration within relevant international organizations.

Reem Al Hashimy emphasized the UAE’s commitment to promoting peace and stability, both regionally and globally. She reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to de-escalating tensions and facilitating peaceful solutions around the world.
