OSAKA – Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane has concluded a series of strategic engagements at the World Expo 2025 in Japan, aimed at strengthening Eswatini’s global partnerships and increasing the country’s visibility on the international stage.
The World Expo, currently underway in Japan, drew participation from countries across the globe, including several from the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Minister Mkhonta-Simelane made it a point to visit African pavilions, offering support to regional partners and reinforcing Eswatini’s commitment to regional collaboration.
During her visit to the Kingdom of Eswatini Pavilion, the Minister spent time interacting with visitors, posing for photos, and encouraging the pavilion team. She expressed satisfaction with the teamwork on display between government representatives and the private sector, noting how their collaboration has presented Eswatini as a country ready for international business and cultural exchange.
Interest in Eswatini’s products is gaining traction, with a Japanese fruit importer showing eagerness to explore the country’s agricultural offerings. Mkhonta-Simelane pointed to this as evidence that international markets are beginning to take serious notice of what the Kingdom has to offer.
She called for sustained momentum ahead of upcoming global expos such as Serbia 2027 and Expo 2030, urging Team Eswatini to adopt modern storytelling techniques and digital platforms to tell the country’s story.
