MBABANE — Eswatini’s short film Lifa Lami will be showcased at the upcoming Waterloo Film Festival in Durban, marking a breakthrough for the country’s film industry.
The festival runs from July 4 to July 6 at the Numetro Cinema in Cornubia Mall and features films from countries such as India, Guinea, Algeria, Morocco, South Africa, and Botswana. Lifa Lami’s inclusion signals growing international interest in Eswatini’s creative talents.
Producer Siphosethu Sibandze said the selection offers a valuable chance to present Eswatini’s storytelling on a wider stage. “We are proud to share our work with new audiences and connect with filmmakers across the region,” he said.
The screening aims to open doors for local filmmakers by attracting funding, partnerships, and greater visibility. It also inspires aspiring directors and producers in Eswatini, showing that local stories can compete internationally.
