Swakopmund, Namibia – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) has been confirmed as the host of the 2027 Southern African Inter-Revenue Administration Games (SAIRAG), following the conclusion of this year’s event in Swakopmund, Namibia. The announcement was made during the closing ceremony of SAIRAG 2026, held from April 3–5, where revenue authorities from across Southern Africa competed in a variety of sporting disciplines.
ERS will take over the hosting duties from the Namibia Revenue Authority, which successfully organised this year’s edition. The games bring together revenue services from the region, including Zambia, Lesotho, Botswana, Angola, South Africa, and Eswatini, promoting camaraderie, healthy competition, and teamwork among tax authorities.
Speaking at the closing event, ERS representatives expressed excitement over the opportunity to host the tournament and welcomed the challenge of preparing for next year’s multi-sport event. The organisation plans to ensure world-class facilities and a competitive programme that will accommodate both individual and team sports.
“This is an opportunity for Eswatini to showcase our sporting talent, organisational capabilities, and commitment to regional cooperation,” an ERS official said. “We look forward to welcoming our colleagues from across Southern Africa and creating an unforgettable SAIRAG 2027.”
SAIRAG provides a platform for participants to develop skills, strengthen relationships, and celebrate achievements beyond their professional duties. Zambia walked away as overall winners at SAIRAG 2026, while Lesotho also had an impressive medal haul, including gold in darts and multiple podium finishes in athletics, volleyball, basketball, and tug of war.
Preparations for SAIRAG 2027 are expected to begin later this year, with ERS coordinating with regional partners to ensure a smooth and successful tournament.
