KAZAN, Russia: Russian engineering teams claimed top honours at the 2026 Robot Battle championship, which concluded on October 31 at the Kazan Expo Centre, bringing together 144 teams from 11 countries to compete in one of the growing international events in robotics and engineering.
The final matches were held as part of the International Forum Kazan Digital Week 2026, where participating teams showcased their engineering inventions, robot designs and piloting abilities across two weight categories, up to 1.5kg and up to 110kg.
Russian teams dominated the lighter category, securing all three podium positions. SonBots from Moscow took first place with its robot, “Sonny”, followed by GosTeam from Yekaterinburg, whose robot “Tulen” finished second. Steel Warriors from Novosibirsk claimed third place with Night Fury V13.
The heavier category, which featured robots weighing up to 110kg, saw a more international contest, with teams from Russia, Brazil and China occupying the podium.
Russia’s Daddy Bots team from St Petersburg secured first place with its robot, “Daddy”. Brazil’s UFO Combat team, competing with ABDUCOW from Izatubba, finished second, while China’s Fierce Roc team from Shenzhen took third place with its robot, Iron Scrap.
This year’s championship attracted participants from Russia, Belarus, Brazil, India, Iran, China and Tunisia. Four countries made their debut at the competition: Saudi Arabia, the United States, Chile and Ecuador.
The participation of teams from different regions reflects the growing international reach of robotics competitions, which provide opportunities for engineers and technology enthusiasts to test their designs against competitors from other countries.
Robot Battle has been organised annually since 2023 and is designed to encourage engineering innovation, nurture technical creativity and contribute to the development of modern digital technologies.
The competition also provides a platform for participants to demonstrate practical applications of robotics, particularly in mechanical engineering, automation, control systems and technological design.
Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development coordinated preparations and the organisation of the championship, while the final stage received support from the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The event was operated by ANO Engineers and Robots, with VKontakte serving as the general technological partner and IKS Holding as the general industrial partner.
