The Okavango Delta, widely regarded as one of the world’s most iconic destinations for nature lovers, photographers, adventurers, ecologists, geologists and zoologists, is also a favoured location for safaris, writers and filmmakers. It is often described as the “last Eden on Mother Earth.”

Botswana’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said the excursion gave airline representatives deeper insight into the country’s appeal as a travel destination and a better understanding of the potential for expanding air connectivity into Botswana.

AviaDev Africa 2026 brings together airlines, airports, tourism boards and investors to explore new routes and partnerships aimed at growing aviation and tourism across the continent. Showcasing the Okavango Delta to airline decision-makers was seen as a direct way of reinforcing the link between air connectivity and destination development.
