Mbabane – Princess Sakhizwe led a high-level delegation on a tour of Dr Sishayi Road in Mbabane on Thursday to assess readiness ahead of the Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair, set to take place on May 1, 2026.

The tour, organised by A Peculiar People, brought together senior government officials and city leaders including the Minister of Housing and Urban Development Hon. A. Maphalala, Mbabane East Member of Parliament Hon. Welcome Dlamini, Mbabane Mayor T. Mkhonto and Mbabane City Council Chief Executive Officer Gciniwe Fakudze.

The delegation crossed from Swazi Plaza Properties toward The Mall and New Mall along Dr Sishayi Road, where they were received by The Mall and New Mall’s Nhlanhla Nkonyane, who welcomed the group as they previewed how the precinct will be transformed into a curated local superstore showcasing the very best of products and services made in Eswatini.

The tour also served as the platform for key sponsorship announcements. Lactalis Eswatini Marketing Manager Lucky Phiri announced a sponsorship of E60 000 towards the fair, a significant contribution from the country’s leading dairy producer. Eswatini Wire, also known as Swazi Wire Industries, the country’s major manufacturer and distributor of steel, was also confirmed as a sponsor.

Mbabane City Council CEO Gciniwe Fakudze led the official venue tour, which has been described as a defining moment for urban economic activation and local enterprise growth in the capital.

The Made in Eswatini Consumer Fair has grown into the Kingdom’s leading platform for promoting locally produced goods and driving the Buy Local campaign by connecting businesses and producers to boost economic growth. The fair also serves as a showcase of Eswatini’s self-reliance and the quality of homegrown products.

Mbabane will take centre stage on May 1 as the city hosts this year’s edition of the fair, which is hosted by A Peculiar People and is expected to give Emaswati an opportunity to support local businesses and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
