Namibian authorities intercepted a consignment of marijuana valued at approximately N$5.2 million at the Noordoewer Border Post in the //Kharas Region during the early morning hours of Friday, April 10, 2026, after a suspect fled the scene while his vehicle was being inspected.
The Namibia Revenue Agency, working in collaboration with law enforcement authorities, discovered the drugs during routine scanning of a vehicle at the border post, which sits on the boundary between Namibia and South Africa.
The seized consignment consisted of 103 packets of marijuana, each weighing one kilogram, and one additional packet weighing 500 grams, bringing the total to just over 103.5 kilograms of the drug commonly known as skunk. The total weight and confirmed value of the haul were still pending verification at the time of the announcement.
When the vehicle was flagged for inspection, the suspect abandoned the scene and fled. The vehicle and all confiscated goods were subsequently handed over to the Namibian Police, and the Criminal Investigation Department from Keetmanshoop attended the scene to conduct a further search and process the evidence.
