EZULWINI – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) and the Eswatini National Provident Fund (ENPF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve collaboration through a formal data-sharing framework aimed at boosting tax compliance and proper remittance of employee contributions.
The MoU was signed by Brightwell Nkambule, Commissioner General of ERS, and Futhi Tembe, CEO of ENPF, at a ceremony in Ezulwini on Tuesday. The agreement seeks to address long-standing issues such as employers failing to remit employees’ ENPF contributions, underreporting staff numbers, or not registering with the Fund altogether.
“This marks the end of free passes for employers who neglect their statutory obligations,” said Tembe. She warned that non-compliance would no longer be tolerated and that the partnership with ERS will strengthen enforcement and accountability.
The collaboration between ERS and ENPF is expected to enhance transparency, tighten oversight, and support national development by ensuring both proper tax payments and protection of workers’ benefits.
Brightwell Nkambule described the agreement as a step toward closer institutional cooperation to curb tax evasion and improve revenue collection, ensuring that employers meet their legal responsibilities consistently.
Tembe added that the MoU provides a framework for ongoing monitoring, and that the Fund will now have better access to information necessary for identifying non-compliant employers, reinforcing the protection of employees’ entitlements.
