MBABANE, Eswatini, September 16, 2026 The Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force is hosting a 31 member delegation from the Botswana Defence Force as part of a Senior Command and Staff Course study tour in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

The delegation, led by Colonel K.M. Seko, arrived in Eswatini on Saturday, September 12, and includes Botswana’s Deputy Defence Attaché to the Kingdom, Dean of Academics, members of the Directing Staff and student officers.

The visiting officers have been taking part in activities designed to expose them to Eswatini’s people, institutions, systems and experiences during their study tour.

They also joined Their Majesties and thousands of emaSwati at the Shiselweni Reed Dance ceremony, which concluded on Sunday.

The formal programme began on Monday, September 14, when Colonel Seko paid a courtesy call on UEDF Commander General Moses M. Fakudze.

Later that morning, the delegation was addressed by UEDF Training Establishment Commandant Major General Sotja M. Dlamini, who welcomed the Botswana officers and spoke about the purpose of the study tour.

Major General Dlamini said the visit would allow the student officers to gain practical knowledge by learning directly from Eswatini’s people, systems and experiences.

“This is an opportunity for you to learn directly from the people, systems and experiences of the Kingdom of Eswatini,” he said.

He said the experience could provide practical insights that would contribute to strengthening the respective defence forces of the two neighbouring countries.

Dlamini encouraged the visiting officers to pay close attention to information presented throughout the programme and to seek clarification whenever necessary.

He also urged them to use the visit to develop meaningful professional connections and relationships with their counterparts in Eswatini.

The delegation is expected to visit selected places of interest across the Kingdom before returning to Botswana on Saturday, September 19.
