Mbabane – The Eswatini Revenue Service (ERS) met with chiefs and senior traditional leaders in the Hhohho region on Monday as part of the Bafundzise Educational Campaign, which is designed to promote tax education and compliance.

The meeting, held on 29 September 2025, brought together Regional Administrators, Regional Secretaries, Tindvuna, and BantfwabeNkhosi. ERS management presented the objectives of the campaign and explained how traditional leaders will play a role in spreading the message to their communities.

The Office of the Regional Administrator convened the gathering following earlier consultations with the Ministry of Tinkhundla. The ministry is working with ERS to prepare an action plan that will connect the revenue body with businesses operating in various chiefdoms.

Discussions centred on presumptive tax, the importance of community participation in encouraging voluntary compliance, and the role of traditional leaders in ensuring that accurate tax information reaches residents. Participants also agreed on the need for regular outreach to make sure that no section of society is left behind.

Community leaders expressed appreciation for the campaign and pledged to support the initiative in their areas. ERS and the Ministry of Tinkhundla will now coordinate communication and mobilisation ahead of the rollout of activities.
