MBABANE – World Breastfeeding Week 2025 was officially launched on Monday with a call for sustainable support systems for breastfeeding mothers across Eswatini.

The event, hosted by the Ministry of Health through the Eswatini National Nutrition Council, took place under the global theme “Prioritise Breastfeeding – Create Sustainable Support Systems.” It was officiated by the Minister of Health and supported by UNICEF Eswatini and World Vision Eswatini.

The commemoration drew attention to the role of families, communities, healthcare facilities, and workplaces in supporting mothers to breastfeed successfully.

As part of the launch, Tsu Zhi Foundation donated 150 breastfeeding pillows, while Lush pledged additional support to make the comfort items more accessible to new mothers across the country.

Officials at the event urged stakeholders across sectors to take collective responsibility in promoting breastfeeding as a key component of child and maternal health.
