JOHANNESBURG – Gearheads and families alike are expected to flock to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit from 29 to 31 August as South Africa’s largest motoring showcase—the Festival of Motoring—makes a high-octane return.
Now in its eighth year, the event is set to feature a jam-packed lineup of car brands including Toyota, Volkswagen, Isuzu, Suzuki, Mahindra, Subaru, Chery, BYD, BAIC, GAC, LDV, GWM Haval, and MG. Some manufacturers are using the platform to launch their vehicles on South African soil for the first time, just ahead of planned sales later this year or early next year.
Tickets, now available through howler.com, start at R295 for general access. Children under four enter for free, while kids aged 4–12 will pay R82. Pensioners aged 65 and above get a discounted rate of R260. A weekend pass for all three days costs R700 (R665 for pensioners). VIP packages hosted by Santam range between R2 200 and R4 200, depending on the package selected, and include hot laps and exclusive access. Chill pods for children are also available, starting at R350.
The event is divided into four sections—green, blue, yellow and red—with various on-site attractions, food vendors, and non-motoring entertainment for all ages. Driving experiences include hot laps with professional drivers, a 4×4 experience on the upper section of the circuit, self-drive opportunities, drifting showcases, go-karts, and simulators.
Gates open at 08:30 and close at 18:00 each day. Limited parking will be available at designated areas around the venue, and a Park and Ride service will run from the Mall of Africa to ease access for attendees.
Early bird ticket holders who purchase before midnight on 3 August stand a chance to win VIP experiences worth R16 000, including hot laps and passes to the Santam Chill Pod.
