Accra — Ghana’s Parliament has approved visa waiver agreements with Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, Colombia, and the Commonwealth of Dominica. The move allows holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports to travel visa-free between these countries and Ghana.
Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Committee, told Parliament the agreements aim to strengthen partnerships in sectors like education, energy, trade, tourism, and agriculture through easier mobility.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa assured lawmakers there would be no immediate loss in revenue from waiving visa fees. He noted that the broader economic benefits, including boosted trade and tourism, outweigh any potential fiscal impact.
