KUMASI, GHANA – His Majesty King Mswati III’s State Visit to Ghana on Saturday, 28 June 2025, has led to the awarding of eight additional scholarships for emaSwati students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), one of Africa’s top-ranked institutions.
The announcement was made by KNUST Vice Chancellor, Professor Rita Akosua Dickson, during the university’s 58th Special Congregation. She revealed that the Mastercard Foundation would sponsor the new batch of students, bringing the total number of emaSwati scholars at the university to 18 in the coming academic year.
Delivering the keynote address, His Majesty urged graduating students to channel their knowledge into solving pressing global challenges, especially in the fast-evolving space of Artificial Intelligence. He described education as the foundation of development and applauded the university’s world-class infrastructure, which he had toured on the eve of the ceremony.
He also commended the graduates for their perseverance, noting that their achievements were a result of years of dedication and sacrifice.
KNUST, located in Kumasi, is one of the largest universities on the continent, with a student population nearing 100,000. The scholarships are expected to enhance Eswatini’s capacity in science, innovation, and technology through skills transfer.
