LUANDA – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini met with top officials from the United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to discuss possible funding for large-scale development projects in Eswatini.
The meeting took place yesterday on the sidelines of the US-Africa Business Summit in Luanda, Angola. Representing the DFC were Chief of Staff and Head of Investments Mr Conor Coleman and Director for Africa Policy Mr Alexander Macdonald.
The discussions centred on financing options for Eswatini’s key development sectors, with a focus on infrastructure, transport, energy, and mining. The DFC expressed interest in exploring various financing models tailored to support the country’s development goals.
The DFC is a financial institution of the US government that supports development in emerging markets as part of Washington’s foreign policy drive. It reportedly has over USD60 billion available for immediate disbursement to viable projects across the globe.
After concluding engagements in Angola, Prime Minister Dlamini departed for Mozambique, where he is expected to represent His Majesty King Mswati III during the neighbouring country’s 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations.
