Botswana president to visit South Africa

Gaborone – President Duma Gideon Boko will travel to South Africa for a private visit from 28 December 2025 to 7 January 2026. During his absence, Vice President Ndaba Nkosinathi Gaolathe will serve as Acting President of Botswana.

The announcement was made through the official Government of Botswana Presidency page on 27 December 2025. The visit is not linked to official state business, with presidential duties temporarily handed over to the vice president.
