LUSAKA, Zambia: President Hakainde Hichilema has appointed four cabinet ministers and made changes to several senior government positions as his administration moves to strengthen its cabinet team.
The appointments were announced by the Office of the President on Monday, September 14, 2026, in Lusaka, pursuant to provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Zambia.
Dr Situmbeko Musokotwane, Member of Parliament for Liuwa, has been appointed Minister of Finance and National Planning.
President Hichilema also nominated Professor Roma Chilengi, Dr Gilbert Siame, Mulambo Haimbe, Mubita Anakoka and Noel Nkhoma as Members of Parliament under Article 68 (2) (b), read together with Article 69 (1) of the Constitution.
Following the nominations, Haimbe has been reappointed Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Haimbe previously served in the same portfolio and will continue overseeing Zambia’s diplomatic relations and international cooperation.
Dr Siame has been appointed Minister of Green Economy and Environment, while Professor Chilengi has been appointed Minister of Health.
The appointments of Musokotwane, Haimbe, Siame and Chilengi were made under Article 116 (1) of the Zambian Constitution.
The changes were announced by Clayson Hamasaka, Chief Communications Specialist at State House, through a press release dated September 14, 2026.
