MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has reported a series of arrests made between May 28 and June 4, 2025, across various regions of the country for crimes ranging from murder and arson to drug trafficking and money laundering.
A 25-year-old man from Fontein is in custody after allegedly setting a house on fire at Nkhungu in the early hours of June 3. The blaze reportedly destroyed household items valued at E137,000.
In Mahwalala, a 19-year-old suspect was arrested after a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the chest with a sharp object on June 2 around 8:45 a.m. Both the victim and suspect are said to be from the same area.
Police also confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old man in Mpolonjeni in connection with the death of a 33-year-old man who was stabbed once in the chest on May 30 at around 5:00 p.m. The incident took place in their shared community.
In the northern town of Pigg’s Peak, police intercepted two vehicles in separate incidents transporting large amounts of dagga. Two suspects aged 44 and 35, both from Nkomanzi, were arrested at Nginamadvolo after officers discovered 79.2kg of dagga hidden in a Toyota Hilux. Another two men aged 36 and 37, from Fairview and Makholweni respectively, were caught with 41.71kg of dagga concealed in a Honda Fit at Magoga.
Meanwhile, at the Lomahasha Border Post, a 28-year-old Mozambican national was taken into custody for allegedly attempting to enter Eswatini with E180,150 in undeclared cash. The incident occurred on May 28 at around 1:30 p.m., and he is now facing money laundering charges.
