The Royal Eswatini Police Service has recovered eleven stolen cattle in Mayflower, South Africa, marking a significant breakthrough in the fight against stock theft.
On January 29, 2026, the Hhohho Regional anti-Stock Theft Unit travelled to Mayflower following leads related to ongoing investigations. During the operation, officers discovered eleven cattle smuggled from Eswatini that were not initially part of their inquiry.
Further investigation upon their return traced the stolen livestock to Siphocosini, where a 66-year-old man reported that fourteen of his cattle, valued at E88 000, had been taken from grazing land on January 28, 2026. The eleven recovered cattle were confirmed to belong to him.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service urged Emaswati to ensure their livestock is safely managed, warning that leaving cattle unguarded in grazing areas overnight “creates a golden opportunity for cattle rustlers. Let us safeguard our livestock as it is our wealth.”
