Mbabane – A 31-year-old man from Mpolonjeni has been arrested by the Royal Eswatini Police Service in connection with a theft by false pretence case.

The investigation began after a 52-year-old woman from Maphungwane reported being defrauded of E41,300 while in Manzini.

According to the police, on January 12, 2026, around 12:00 PM, the victim was deceived by the suspect into handing over the money. The suspect promised a business partnership to supply stationery to schools nationwide in collaboration with another company. However, the suspect failed to deliver on the agreement, prompting the victim to file a report with the police on January 15, 2026.

Evidence gathered by the police led them to the 31-year-old man, who was arrested on January 19, 2026, around 1:00 PM in Mbabane.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the suspect is believed to be linked to other similar cases. He is expected to appear in court soon.
