Piggs Peak iHub has launched a Basic Computing Skills Programme aimed at equipping beginners and first-time computer users with practical digital skills in Piggs Peak, in the Hhohho Region.
The programme, which started on January 13, 2026, is being offered at the SEDCO Piggs Peak iHub offices and targets community members with little or no prior computer experience. It seeks to address gaps in digital literacy while preparing participants for basic office work, small business operations and further studies.
Participants are being trained in Microsoft Excel, focusing on spreadsheet use, data entry and basic reporting. The course also introduces learners to basic web design, where they are taught how to create a simple web page and understand how websites work. The training is structured to build strong foundations in computing without requiring any previous technical background.
Classes are conducted three times a week, with each session lasting three hours and including a 20 minute break. This arrangement allows learners to progress at a manageable pace while gaining hands on experience during lessons. Each participant is issued with hard copy learning materials during every session, including summaries and step by step guides to support learning both in class and at home.
During the first week of the programme, participants were introduced to the basics of Microsoft Excel, including understanding spreadsheets, navigating the software and entering data. Learners were also introduced to web design basics, covering what a website is and how web pages are created, setting the stage for more practical exercises in the coming weeks.
