Mbabane – Artists and cultural professionals in the Kingdom of Eswatini are being invited to apply for new funding and technical support following the launch of the third call for projects under the Unesco Aschberg Programme.
The call was announced by the Unesco Regional Office for Southern Africa and is open to governments, public institutions and civil society organisations from Unesco member states, including Eswatini. The programme focuses on strengthening the status of artists while protecting artistic freedom across different regions.
Two support tracks are available. Track one targets governments and public institutions and offers technical assistance to design or revise laws, policies and measures that protect artists’ rights and freedom of artistic expression. Track two is aimed at civil society organisations and provides financial support for innovative initiatives such as capacity building, advocacy, research and monitoring at local, national, regional or international level.
The opportunity is expected to draw interest from Eswatini’s creative sector as artists and cultural organisations continue to navigate policy gaps, funding constraints and challenges affecting creative expression.
Applications must be submitted in English or French by 23 February 2026 and sent to aschberg@unesco.org.
