Johannesburg – Authorities in South Africa are closing in on suspects linked to the murder of popular DJ Warras, confirming that arrests will be made soon.
DJ Warras, whose real name was Warrick Stock, was tragically shot and killed on December 12 in Johannesburg’s CBD. He was gunned down in front of a building his company, Imperium Ops, had been hired to secure. His murder is part of a series of violent incidents that have rocked Gauteng recently.
National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola assured the public that the police are on track to capture those responsible for the DJ’s murder, along with other high-profile killings. “We are confident that the suspects behind the Saulsville shooting, the killing of Marius van der Merwe, and DJ Warras will soon be apprehended,” Masemola said during a press briefing.
The shooting death of DJ Warras comes just one day after a mass shooting in Saulsville, Tshwane, where 12 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured at an illegal tavern on December 6. Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
Masemola revealed that an arrest in DJ Warras’ case is expected before the weekend, as authorities are following strong leads in the investigation.
At a memorial service for the late DJ, held at The Galleria in Sandton on December 15, family and friends paid tribute to him. His eldest son, Ethan, recalled his father’s guidance and dedication, calling him his hero and inspiration.
“My father always did everything in his power to make sure me and my family were okay,” Ethan said. He vowed to honor his father’s legacy. “My dad’s legacy will live through me and my little brothers, and I will do everything to make him proud.”
DJ Warras’ sister, Nicole, also shared an emotional tribute, highlighting how her brother’s impact went beyond their family. “He belonged to a country, he belonged to a nation, and he belonged to the people,” she said.
