Pigg’s Peak – A 36-year-old man from Mzimnene is facing charges in connection with the death of his brother, a 40-year-old man, following a violent confrontation at a local drinking spot.

The incident occurred on November 8, 2025, at around 4 p.m. when the two brothers were drinking together. The suspect became aggressive and started fighting with other patrons. The deceased, seeking to calm the situation, intervened by advising his brother to stop the altercation. However, instead of heeding his brother’s words, the suspect struck him on the head with a brick.

The injured man went home after the incident, and on November 9, 2025, he visited Pigg’s Peak Government Hospital, where he was treated and later discharged. He also visited the police station to request a medical form, but declined to file a case, describing the matter as a family dispute.

A week later, on November 15, 2025, his condition worsened, and he was readmitted to the hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries later that day. Despite the family taking the body to a funeral home without initially informing the authorities, they eventually reported the incident as tensions grew within the family.

The police have since arrested the suspect, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
