Mogadishu, Somalia – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has lauded Zambia for its open-door policy towards foreigners, particularly those seeking to contribute to the country’s economic growth.
President Mohamud expressed his admiration for Zambia’s proactive measures to encourage foreign investment and participation in various sectors, such as business ventures. He made these remarks during a ceremony where he received the credentials of Zambia’s new Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. Mrs. Rose Sakala, who is also accredited to Somalia.
Calling on Ambassador Sakala to promote investment opportunities for Zambian businesses in Somalia, President Mohamud highlighted the potential for fruitful collaboration in areas like mining and tourism. He emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations, asserting that enhanced cooperation would benefit both countries.
In response, Ambassador Sakala reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to deepening its diplomatic relations with Somalia. She expressed a keen interest in expanding economic cooperation between the two countries for mutual benefit.
Addressing the issue of peace and security in the Eastern African region, Ambassador Sakala underscored Zambia’s dedication to fostering stability throughout the continent. She highlighted President Hakainde Hichilema’s unwavering advocacy for peace and his support for various peace initiatives.
Moreover, Ambassador Sakala mentioned Zambia’s contribution to peacebuilding efforts in Somalia through its participation in the African Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) program.
Prior to her meeting with President Mohamud, Ambassador Sakala presented her credentials to Mr. Isaak Mohamud Mursal, the Somali Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
