New York, USA – Nigeria’s massive 650,000-barrel-per-day Dangote refinery is on the brink of full operation, with gasoline production expected to commence by mid-September, according to industry analyst IIR Energy.
The $20 billion refinery, constructed by Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, on the outskirts of Lagos, began operations in January after facing significant delays. While the refinery has been producing diesel and other distillate fuels, it has previously set targets for gasoline production in May and July, both of which were not met.
IIR Energy suggests that further delays may occur, although no official confirmation is available from Dangote.
