Gege – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) is investigating a fatal road accident that claimed the life of an eight-month-old baby near Magubheleni Clinic. The incident occurred on 27 October 2025 at around 19:15 along the Mahamba-Gege public road.

Police officers conducting a routine roadside check stopped a Mercedes-Benz sedan, but the driver fled, taking the Magubheleni-Siyendle road. The vehicle later collided from behind with a Toyota LDV, seriously injuring a 40-year-old woman from Dinga and her baby. The infant succumbed to injuries at the scene.

The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot without offering assistance. Officers found two bags of dagga in the car, indicating the suspect was also involved in drug trafficking.

The REPS is actively following multiple leads as the investigation continues.
