MBABANE – An Eswatini-born educator is steering efforts to bring second-chance education and digital skills training to rural communities, with a vision to empower women and out-of-school youth.
Nomfundo Sifundza-Ngcamphalala, a former high school teacher of business subjects, is the founder of Umliba Loyembili Edupreneurs, a local non-profit focused on education, entrepreneurship, and digital inclusion. With more than eight years of classroom experience and qualifications in accounting, she is now working to close learning gaps using online tools and tailored content for marginalised communities.
Her initiative is not only helping learners resume and complete their high school studies, but also equipping them with digital skills that open pathways to economic independence. Teachers are also benefiting through training in online education methods and small-scale enterprise development, enabling them to better serve their communities.
Sifundza-Ngcamphalala, who currently serves as Secretary General of the U.S. in Eswatini Alumni Exchange Association, has built a strong portfolio through international training and leadership programs. She is a 2025 Fellow of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and a graduate of the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE).
Her certification as a Women in Digital Business trainer through Microsoft Philanthropies and ITCILO, along with her role as an ambassador for the African Union’s Africa Educates Her campaign, further adds to her efforts to fight poverty through inclusive education.
Umliba Loyembili’s work centres on rural Eswatini, where many still lack access to quality education and the internet.
