German ambassador visits Goethe Institut

PRETORIA, South Africa, September 2026 Germany’s new Ambassador to South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini, Oliver Rentschler, has visited the Goethe Institut South Africa as part of an engagement focused on cultural and educational cooperation.

Rentschler was accompanied by Anne Kathrin Kirsch, Head of the Cultural Department at the German Embassy in Pretoria, during the visit to the institute.

The delegation toured the Goethe Institut’s facilities and interacted with staff and visitors, gaining an overview of the range of cultural, educational and creative activities hosted by the institution.

The visit also provided an opportunity for discussions on the role of cultural institutions in strengthening connections between South Africa and Germany.

The Goethe Institut South Africa said it welcomed the engagement and the exchange of ideas with the German diplomatic representatives.
