Buhari sends message to Muslims as fasting begins today

As the holy month of Ramadan begins and Muslims embark on 30 days of fasting, President Muhammadu Buhari has conveyed his greetings and best wishes to them.

Buhari encouraged Muslims to use this time to showcase the best virtues of Islam through their personal conduct rather than just words. In his message, he emphasized the importance of putting the teachings of Islam into practice, particularly kindness and love for humanity.

Buhari also reminded Muslims that Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink but is also a time for deep reflection, greater fear of Allah, and the avoidance of all evils that harm humanity. He acknowledged that the experience of hunger during Ramadan brings both the rich and poor together, strengthening the bond between them.

Buhari expressed his concern about traders who exploit the occasion by artificially increasing the prices of their goods, including food, at the beginning of every month of Ramadan, which is against the spirit of the occasion and the spirit of Islam.

Finally, Buhari called on Muslims to share their blessings with those less fortunate during this month of fasting, as sharing food and drinks with others would result in Allah multiplying their rewards for good deeds.
