In the beginning of the year, Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries (PHD) founder Prophet Walter Magaya made a bold prediction that the new dispensation under President Mnangagwa would result in an economic rebound. Developments on the ground renders his prediction accurate and his prophecy seems to have come to pass.

Addressing journalists during his cross-over all-night service on New Year’s Eve, Magaya said with the ascendancy of Mnangagwa as President, economic recovery and individual prosperity were now possible.

“It’s a new chapter for every Zimbabwean; we are in a new dispensation and, as a church, we are saying let us take advantage of the new chapter to grow our economy,” he said.

“As a church, we have declared good and we are saying to our people, let us open the gates. We have great opportunities lying ahead of us.” he declared.

This prediction was quickly dismissed by pessimists who scoffed it off but reality has dawned on them as the new dispensation has attracted foreign direct investments in the short period of time it has been on the levers of power. In the first quarter of the year, ED’s administration managed to strike billion dollar deals and revived dormant projects that were stalled in the previous administration due to corruption and investor scary behaviour which included bribe demands from investors.

Quoting Isaiah 60 verse 1 ,Magaya accurately predicted that Zimbabwe will open its “gates” and allow foreigners to bring in the “goodies” they have so that the hard-pressed citizens could reap from their sweat. Indeed, recent days has seen foreign investors stampeding to visit the country.

This week billionaire Alingo Dankote s team jetted into the country with interests to acquire coal deposits. Hot on their heels was FDI guru and Rwanda Development Board chief executive officer Ms Clare Akamanzi who is on a two week long visit where she will meet various stakeholders including cabinet ministers. President ED ‘s state visit to China also set motion for the rebound of several projects that were being stalled.

The $1 billion Hwange Thermal Project deal was resuscitated after three years in the ‘intensive care” unit. After ED’s China visit the project is set to be in motion with a deal already sealed and funds to start work on units 7 and 8 are already floating. The Kunzvi Dam project which was on its deathbed was also rescued by Sino Hydro and China Communications who committed to provide required resources.

A $1 billion Tourism memorandum of Understanding was also signed with immediately available funds to the tune of $1 billion channeled towards other projects like NetOne expansion, Morton Jeffery Waterworks, expansion of the Robert Mugabe International airport among other mega projects set to benefit the ordinary Zimbabwean. The role of the church in politics is to uphold morality and be non partisan but lately the Modern day church seem to have changed the dynamics as evidenced but several political prophecies made by different clergymen.
