CHIREDZI – Chiredzi residents have accused a senior Town Council official of grazing his cattle in the urban area and these have damaged plants including vegetables in Tshovani High Density Suburb.
The residents are pointing fingers at Edson Nyadenga who is head of the environment department for letting his cattle graze in Tshovani causing damages to their crops and pausing danger to children.
Nyadenga’s phone went unanswered when The Mirror called him for commment.
Chiredzi Residents and Ratepayers Association (CHRRA) Chairman Jonathan Muusha Mupamombe said it is disgusting that a senior council official who should be protecting residents is herding his cattle in residential area.
He said residents have demanded that there be by-laws against such practises and this recommendation came during the budget consultations.
“We are having problems with some of the officials at council who are herding their cattle in the residential area thereby destroying people`s crops and posing danger to kids.
“As residents we demand for crafting of by-laws so that this problem can be dealt with,” said Mupamombe.
